Back in 2013, I decided to make a life change. A life change that I now realize was more major than I thought at the time. I decided to become a puppeteer.
I had a good job as an illustrator for a publishing company in Pensacola, Florida. Life was great! But I didn’t feel like it was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. So I did some soul searching and realized I was happiest when I was working with puppets.
So in 2013 I made my first puppet. In 2014 I attended my first puppet festival and 3 hour puppets on camera workshop. I practiced as much as possible. Then in 2015 I went to Beyond the Sock Puppetry Workshop for Television and Film. I’ve had the privilege of studying under Pasha Romanowski, Noel MacNeal, Martin P. Robinson and Peter Linz.
Since then I’ve auditioned for the Jim Henson Company and gained a couple paid gigs including my current adventure at Universal Studios Orlando!
It’s been a roller coaster ride, but I’m enjoying it (most of it)! I have to work hard for what I want. And I like it that way.
